Despite numerous protests against a pawn shop moving to the corner of Franklin and Park – and despite the pawn shop sign being taken down – it’s still set to open. I Love Franklin Avenue points out the kicker: the shop’s named Crow Hill Jewelry, after the very group that protested it. Ouch! Also, we have no idea what to think of the mural that’s gone up to promote the place. That is one lucky baby.

  1. If you think you’re getting a good price for your gold at a pawn shop then you deserve what you get. You go to Chinatown to sell gold jewelry, preferably with a Chinaman who knows the honest places.

  2. “Come on, BHO – just because someone didn’t put money down and stopped paying their mortgage – doesn’t mean they don’t own it. : )”

You’re not a homeowner until you’re done paying the bank, but I see the point you’re making.

  3. What does “homeowners” mean? Why the “”? There are plenty of owner occupied homeowners in this neighborhood.

Oh please, rob, dyscartographia is not even a word, let alone a disorder. And your panties are in a twist over just about everything, and everyone.

  4. A place like this is a throw-back to the bad old days, when they served to fence gold chains ripped off by muggers. A gold buyer with a similar sign opened on Flatbush Ave., near Lincoln Rd., in PLG, earlier this year. I NEVER saw any customers inside, even though the owners had someone handing out fliers nonstop. They went out of business after a few months. What could they have been thinking? I hope this operation suffers a similar, well-deserved, fate.
