This top-floor rental at 158 President in Carroll Gardens isn’t really floating our boat. It’s a one-bedroom, one-bathroom, plus an awkward looking loft that appears to cut up the main living space. It seems like a bit of a stretch to be calling this place a duplex, as the broker does in the listing verbiage. Given all that, the price of $2,450 a month doesn’t seem like a bargain to us. Thoughts?

  1. “And what are the best trains? Serious question. I’m partial to the Q myself, but folks rag on the F like there is some secret awesome subway line I don’t know about.”

    Seriously – they all suck.

  2. > the F and the G aren’t worth more than a couple blocks’ walk

And what are the best trains? Serious question. I’m partial to the Q myself, but folks rag on the F like there is some secret awesome subway line I don’t know about.

  3. NOT a bad location on President near Henry. Far from crappy. And it’s maybe a five (okay, ten if you are a slowpoke) minute walk down President to the Carroll stop. I swear, “hike to the subway” is really overused when it comes to Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill. On the other hand, super annoying layout and not worth $2450. More like $2200 tops, I’d say. I once had to climb up to a sleeping loft when I had a college share and it is really a pain in the butt.

  4. What happens that you’re working on that loft thing and you think, “Eff it, needs hexagonal holes” and no one stops you??

From the pic, it looks like the ceiling height in the loft area is about 6 feet in the back and slopes down to about 5 feet toward the front? Galley kitchen with fridge in the living room. No pics of the bedroom or the two “offices.” Brian, Brian, Brian, no es un duplex.

Looks like it’s a hike to the subway as well. Maybe part of the price is that living here takes care of your gym needs?
