Wowza! This five-bedroom, four-bathroom townhouse rental at 489 Henry Street in Cobble Hill is really something. The listing (which comes straight outta the Brownstoner Marketplace) boasts a 20-foot-high open atrium, complete with a ‘glass wall system’ that opens completely into the patio, backyard, and guesthouse. And, at 5,500 square feet, there’s plenty of space to spread out. The modern approach may not satisfy townhouse traditionalists, but the home is pretty green-friendly, with a solar power system. The ask is $18,000 a month, rental prices we’ve featured in Park Slope and Brooklyn Heights but not yet Cobble Hill. What do you think?

  1. Don’t people who live in $5 million homes just buy them outright? I certainly would.

$18,000 a month seems a bit insane even for such nice faux beams. LOVE the kitchen with the wood counters. So pretty. That huge open plan whole floor room looks like it could be a little windy though, especially during takeoffs and landings.

  2. idiot, it’s the epicenter for everything that is wrong with our economy. maybe a better way to phrase it would be the eye of the storm for the ultimate destruction of the middle class. it is NOT the epicenter of art, culture, and whatever else people like to think it is. ive stated that MANY times before.

Nothing more enjoyable than listening to pop psychology being spouted from someone’s beanbag.

  3. Gorgeous place. These sort of rents are more common on the other side of the river. If a finance type likes Brooklyn and is just doing a tour of duty in NYC and not looking to buy, this would fit the bill perfectly.

I wonder if the home is owned by a banker that was shipped off to London or HK for a few years.

  4. rob is a total jackass. LOL

I love this house, but I’m flat out cheap and wouldn’t pay this much if I could afford to. This place will be rented before the end of August and likely by someone fitting the profile of someone Grand Army described.
