This two-bed, two-bath duplex at 1218 Dean Street is another Crown Heights apartment with some nice period detail. We’re digging the dark woodwork, but from the looks of the kitchen, the details haven’t been preserved throughout. The rent also comes in steep, at $2,400 a month. But if the duplex is indeed 1,600 square feet and everything is in working order, who knows. Care to weigh in?

  1. kingston got a few juicy retail locations – now if only the ppty owners would accept my lowball offers. Kingston filling out some of those vacant retail spots would really add alot to the blocks sandwiched by nostrand and kingston.

  2. No rob- I don’t. And kindly refrain from analysis- you’re incompetent at it. If you managed to read my post you would have understood (difficult for you but focus), my anger is at his calling my neighborhood a shitty part of the city. I’m sure you, in all your Park Slope glory feels the same way- so I’ll just lump you with him in the same dunce corner.

Victim? G-d, rob- you wasted money on the psychology degree you claim to have.

  3. Tybur, I take deep exception to your remarks about my hood, especially since I live around the corner from this house, and hardly find the neighborhood “a shitty part of the city”. When was the last time you were here? 1976?

For the record, there is a decent dry cleaner on the corner of Kingston and Dean. I don’t know if they pick up or not, but they do good work, and are only a block away. I didn’t realize that this is such a make or break amenity. There is also a good dry cleaner on Nostrand at Pacific, although that’s further away from this house.

Foodtown of Bed Stuy is only 4 blocks away, in Restoration Plaza, one of the nicest supermarkets in central Brooklyn, with a better than most places selection of produce, meats, a deli, organic and ethnic foods, plus regular grocery items, and on-line delivery service. That’s a lot more than so called “better” neighborhoods have. There is also a Duane Reade in Restoration, along with Chase, Citi and Carver banks.

There are coffee and sandwhich shops opening on Kingston, and there is a fine restaurant called Basil on Kingston near Eastern parkway. We have a new coffeeshop on Pacific near Nostrand, 2 blocks from this house.

No, it’s not Park Slope, but it’s certainly not “shitty”, and it’s getting better every day. This is a beautiful block, near trains, and buses. One could certainly do much worse.

People who don’t live here don’t know all the great things that are going on. Nor, even more obviously, do they care to know.

you do not want to be pro- hyper gentrification of crown heights do you? cuz these kinds of crazy ass rents are cattle calls for that to happen. of course there are amenities around there and things going on, but once the cattle are herded in those things wont be up to snuff and another neighborhood with ridiculous rents is formed, except this time seemingly overnight, which is a BAD thing.

stop being so sensitive and stop playing the victim all the time bxgirl.

  5. tyburg- harsh? Yes. Ignorant? Even more so.But that’s just you.

People who don’t live here don’t know all the great things that are going on. Nor, even more obviously, do they care to know.

That said- yes,the rent is too high-but then again, that is a city problem overall. The house is beautiful and here’s another shocker, tyburg- Crown Heights happens to be a damn decent place to live. Thank goodness you don’t think so- we’ll never have to worry about the stench you bring with you.
