We don’t know how nice a one-bedroom apartment has to be to pay $4,500 for it, but this one at 315 Garfield Place in Park Slope is pretty nice. The floor-through obviously gets points right off the bat for its location right off the park. There’s also a big kitchen, living room, and bedroom, and the backyard is downright drool-worthy. And check out this rental’s history: According to StreetEasy, the rental price has been sporadic as the house itself goes on and off the market. The lowest offered rent was $3,200 in 2008. Think they’re shooting too high this time around? (And remember, you can also buy the whole place for upwards of $8M….)

  1. This is a lovely home, no doubt. But the price seems borderline delusional. And to rent a ONE-bedroom ground-level apartment in Park Slope for 4,500 bucks a month? I’ve never seen it. Or anything close.

I preferred the Connelly mansion because it felt so much more unusual and grand. It was right on the park, a corner with magnificent woodwork and enormous rooms that were wider than these. At least as I recall. It was one of the most grand and beautiful homes I’ve ever seen, like those I used to tour with my mom when I was little — Oooohing and ahhhing over all of the details and the staircases and the period furnishings and so on. This one is gorgeous, but it is a rowhouse at the end of the day with windows only on the front and back. Not complaining (!) just can’t really be compared to that Connelly place.

  2. facade-wise, this one looks like a better quality new construction – pales in comparison to legit mansion looking limestone with connelly mansion.

  3. True, Minard…those things are pluses. But in terms of layout, this house is superior I think. Also it is 6800 square feet and Connelly mansion is “only” 5200 sf.

When speaking about a mansion, I think size might trump air. But it’s subjective, of course.
