  1. ET, despite your snotty comment above, I agree with you. My house is 50′ long and I have a kitchen in the back and room for a TV room in the “back parlour.” The front parlour is so damn big that there’s wasted space in the front and then a sofa and chairs in front of the fireplace and still room for a formal dining table that seats six.

I agree with you on all of that. More so, I wouldn’t want to be moving back and forth from one floor to the other because the kitchen is below!!!

  2. We looked at the Lefferts house last summer. The work is thorough – it was a flip and I believe it was gutted – but it’s still probably $50K above where it should be for the neighborhood and market. The yard is v. small and while there is a small garage, the driveway is tight and shared with the house next door.

  3. I have been to the Putnam house and overall this is a very nice house which was designed by Amzi Hill’s son Henry in the early 1890s… The blue on the garden floor is a bit strange but I think the photos makes it look worse than what it is… The only reason I think this house has not sold is that is rather close to Malcolm X and I think that is a turn off for most people… I do not think Putnam is overpriced it is move in condition. To strip that room would be under $1000.

  4. And I know I’m going to get knocked for this, but I want living, dining and kitchen on one floor. I entertain a lot with lots of people and they tend to sit in living room and eat cause there’s not enough room in dining area…..and can’t imagine climbing stairs with trays of food.

  5. “The Bed Stuy house has been on the market for a long time as well. I don’t know why it hasn’t sold.”

    Cause it’s overpriced.
I got really excited at first when I saw it as an open house pic, cause this is my price range. For this price, should be a two family (that’s what I’m looking for at this price and in this nabe or Crown Heights).
And I HATE that ‘blue’ paneling. Maybe I need to see it in person, but it looks like someone colored it in with crayons.
And I don’t like that bathroom with that dorky little sink with the exposed plumbing. The sink is the size of my eyeball. And the shower doesn’t have a door (I know it’s very Euro to do that), but water will spray everywhere and leave water marks(medicine cabinet mirror). A clean freak like me will hate to see that.

I do like the wood floors and the entry paneling tho.

  6. i’m not understanding the hype over the 12th street house. the fridge is in the dining area, which is so odd and it’s tiny. would really make more sense laid out as a one family.

the lefferts house is nice but ‘questionable’ location.

bed-stuy house looks good – wonder what the hold up is on it selling?
