House of the Day: 421 Sterling Place
We’re digging this limestone house that just hit the market at 421 Sterling Place, and we suspect that house hunters with a thing for original detail will too. The woodwork on the parlor floor is particularly impressive, and the 131-foot-deep lot makes for a killer backyard. The only real negative (for some buyers, anyway) is that the house has only three stories. Then again the price tag would likely be quite a bit higher than $1,699,000 if that weren’t the case. You liking it?

I really want to see this at the open house last weekend and then forgot.
I just wanna see it.
Broker said electrical was recently upgraded, however a number of lights were out with a blown fuse, so I took that with a grain of salt.
Who wants a 4-story house… sooo many stairs.
DIBS, I dont know and the broker wasnt saying. Definitely weird that the basement was of limits.
Do you ask about electrical and plumbing, dcb? I didn’t get to because there were too many people trying to talk to the agent.
I took a look at Google street view. I don’t care how nice that block is and how nice the house is. Washington Avenue is about as butt ugly as you can get. Why someone would pay $1.7M to live next to that is beyond me. Different strokes for differnt folks, I guess.
DCB, so the basement was a rental unit???
Not great for public transport, but a nice looking house and that yard is awesome. Would imagine they will have to reduce ask to somewhere around 1.3 before selling but perhaps some buyer with a hankering for details and a big yard will bite at current price.
This is a very fine house. I think it would sell for close to asking. Washington is not the worse street in Brooklyn. Washington seems much like Vanderbilt was only 5 years ago. As AY grows Washington will be the new Flatbush, and Flatbush will be a parking lot.
