House of the Day: 43 3rd Street
This three-story brick house at 43 3rd Street in Carroll Gardens just hit the market with an asking price of $1,390,000. It looks like a very cute place to us, with lots original detail on both the inside and outside. To us, it’s screaming out to be a one-family, but appears to work fine currently…

Its just shy of tacky-perfect. Just a few more of the right pieces would round it out… Maybe a velvet painting or two. Perhaps a bold yellow floral chair. Something with a nautical theme too. Yup, that should just about do it.

Gay elitist.
Thanks for the compliment DIBS but in this market, I think most folks are more particular and will not necessarily drop the big bucks for substandard goods.
It’s pretty far down, Pigeon, closer to Bond…and the train is down in a trench at that point. I service my car at Lee Bros (corner of Smith and 3rd St) and don’t recall ever hearing the train while standing in the parking lot, so I think train noise is a non-issue.

Miss Muffett, you and I have more particular (and better) taste than the average wack jobs on here. For you and I the renovation would be more but a lot of these other slackers can be satisfied with a tub, a shower curtain and formica countertops!!! 🙂

The F train becomes elevated at 3rd and Smith, half a block away.
Do you think this home hears the rumblings of the F?
Wasder/BH, very good catch. I did mean 3rd Street – a very, very big difference!!
Three photos? Means we have to assume the kitchens and bathrooms are a wreck. No way this goes for over $999K. Less if it needs a new roof and mechanicals.
