House of the Day: 179 Adelphi Street
$1,650,000 isn’t a very high price for a four-story house in Fort Greene, so we’re not particularly optimistic about what this four-family at 179 Adelphi Street must look like on the inside. (The lack of photos ain’t helping either.) The listing does cite the existence of original details though, so maybe it’s not so bad….

11:41 & 11:54…the Philly haters don’t know a thing about how real estate prices rise.
Bitter I’d bet.
As a life long philly resident 11:41 is right. There were more murders in philly in the early 90s than now.So all u people need to keep ur mouth shut.We have crime problems here like any other big city. And u can get townhome here for under 200k.Mt. Airy is much nicer hood the FG BTW.
4:35 ur a moron.Ive lived in Philly since 93 and there were more murders all of those years than there is now.Do ur research before u speak.MORON
Never met Mr. B.
And, umfortunately I’ve never been to the Flea. Someday I will. Hope to meet all you nice people there too.
I met Jerry Minsky and the seller of Monday’s HOTD last night at the open house. They felt quite pleased with themselves thinking they had busted me after I signed the login sheet as Dave… I was the only one to visit which was sad for the seller.
They did a nice job on their parlour floor.
Dave = ghetto king.
Bed Stuy & Philly = sh!t holes
Thanks 11:18, nice to know I’m an original (apologies to Dave, Biff, Nokilissa and BTG).
But I hardly think you are impressing anyone with your wit or intelligence by attacking any of us. You just don’t do it well enough.
Dave in Bed Stuy is a friend of Brownstoner’s. As is Biff. They were never here before and appeared at the exact same time exactly at the moment there was a big dip in hits a short while ago. And the moment they appeared they immediately had this close rapport and would fill threads with nonsensical, navel-gazing, boring banter with each other. Filling threads with tons of posts and hits.
SO obvious, guys.
Nobody is talking about this listing. This listing brings up one of my big peeves in Brooklyn RE. How do these amateur lazy rinky dink Century 21 franchise operations in Brooklyn get 7-figure listings?
We have one elderly lady on our block with her brownstone repped by another one of the Century 21 franchises. Worst broker ever. No staging, no decluttering, took terrible photos on a pocket camera. Didn’t provide a floorplan. The guy can’t sell the house to save him. It’s been on the market forever. Oh and my favorite trademark of the crap Century 21 franchise listings — the link on the NY Times that doesn’t lead directly to the listing but just to the main site for C21. On which more often than not you can’t even find the listing that is supposedly in their system. JOKE.
These Century 21 franchises are taking advantage of older homeowners who don’t know any better and who recognize the big brand name and think it actually means something. Elderly people need to know the only thing you need to do to become a Century 21 office is simply to send a check to the big ole Century 21 corporation. That’s it. Any fool can do it. It doesn’t mean anything.
120+ posts almost entirely Dave in Bed Stuy. Who cares?
