$1,650,000 isn’t a very high price for a four-story house in Fort Greene, so we’re not particularly optimistic about what this four-family at 179 Adelphi Street must look like on the inside. (The lack of photos ain’t helping either.) The listing does cite the existence of original details though, so maybe it’s not so bad. Has anyone been inside?

  1. You are right about that, 2:01. My wife has managed to parlay her experience to work with moving some of the “harder to sell music” as downloads on itunes. The recording industry is a tough one, but she loves it.

Opera…well…it’s actually quite healthy right now. Our business is so small and specialized, that it is surprisingly very recession proof…the aftermath of 9/11 was tough, but things seem to have bounced back.

20% of a $30,000 a night fee is pretty good money though no matter how you cut it. Especially now that I’m working for about 20 singers around the globe.

You all should go check out the MET Opera in Prospect Park on Friday night…two huge “stars” are performing…should be a great night.

  2. 1:41 and 1:57 – It is fine to say it’s affordable to you, but what is it with people on this site always spouting off about exactly how much they make and how old they are? I think it’s so gross – and so indicative of what NYC (and the US in general) has become – that people are always bragging about how much they make and then saying it’s not hard to make that much. Actually, it is. You should be happy that you are so successful, but why the need to rub it in people’s faces?

    “Who buys records/CD’s anymore?”

Dont know alot about opera but Lil Wayne just sold 1 million records for his first week sales, look it up its all over the entertainment news. oh people are buying records for sure even in this screwed up economy!!

  4. No 1:58, that’s the point. There are a lot of people in NY that do make this much money and they are not the cliche investment bakers everyone on this web site likes to mention. That’s why these houses cost this much. It’s because 1:47 while maybe not average, is in no way out of the ordinary either.

  5. Agreed that is a good price for Fort Greene. On a decent street. I think it does represent a price drop. Prices may drop more but rents will have to drop also or they will support values around these levels.
