This one-bedroom at 416 Ocean Avenue looks like a nice starter apartment. First off, the prewar building itself has a beautiful exterior and lobby. The unit itself while relatively modestly outfitted has nice bones and a decent size. On top of that, with an asking price of $270,000 and monthly maintenance of just $435, the pretax nut to own this place should come in at well under $2,000. Throw in the proximity to the park and the B and Q trains and it sounds like a decent package to us.

  1. Plus, this is around a 750 square foot one-bedroom apt. I don’t know what’s “starter” about that at all, if you accept that starter means some significant sacrifice that you plan to live in only until you can afford more.

  2. Why does it take so effin’ long for my comments to post? I was trying to start up a dialogue on this Apt, as I am definitely going to check it out this Sunday, but its been half an hour and my last comment hasn’t posted yet. :'(

  3. wish this site had a “like” button for comments. i’d give randolph a big thumbs up on this comment!!!

i find the phrase “starter apartment” quite condescending, especially in relation to an apartment that could be someone’s home for years after saving up for years. not everyone is so lucky to treat real estate as a game or investment.

the amount of entitlement displayed on this blog is sickening,

  4. hush hush and play along. This is a real estate pimp game. buy low sell high. better returns than stock market. better financials than renting. Only an idiot wouldnt rush in and buy buy buy NOW!!!!!!!!!
