This week, a look back at four of our featured listings from six months ago focuses on homes in Brooklyn Heights, Cypress Hills, Bed Stuy and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. How did they fare?
Perched near the Brooklyn Heights Promenade in an historic building in the landmark district, this compact and smartly updated one-bedroom could make cozy digs for one person or a luxurious pied-à-terre for two. The asking price is not insignificant, although the monthly maintenance is relatively low at $654. This former Co-op of the Day sold in April for $999,000, which was $174,000 over the asking price.
Given a fun and thoughtful modern makeover that avoids flipper cliches, this 1920s detached brick house is outfitted with a fair amount of custom details on the interior along with the perks of a rooftop deck and parking. It occupies a corner lot at 233 Highland Boulevard and is close to walking trails in sprawling Highland Park, which sits next to the block. This former House of the Day sold in February for $1.330 million, which was $65,000 under the asking price.
In the Stuyvesant Heights Historic District, a 1892 Romanesque Revival row house designed by noted 19th century architect Magnus Dahlander is dripping with details inside and out, appears to be in move-in condition, and seems competitively priced. It’s a three-family with two apartments over an owner’s duplex. This former Open House Pick sold in May for $2.14 million, which was $110,000 under the asking price.
In the Prospect-Lefferts Garden Historic District, this early 20th century single-family has some well-cared for original details but is also in need of more than a few updates. The limestone at 174 Rutland Road hasn’t changed hands since the late 1960s and it shows in the kitchens and baths. Along with the mechanicals, they would need a revamp to realize the potential of this estate condition row house. This former House of the Day is still available for $2.05 million, a price cut of $300,000.
