An hour before Simon & Alex’s house renovation was unveiled on last night’s new episode of The Real Housewives on New York, we stopped by their Cobble Hill house for a guided tour. The reality show couple livea in the lower duplex (plus renovated cellar) with their two kids and have two rentals upstairs. Enjoy the pics! Update: As a commenter points out, how funny was that to see Marty in the background of their housewarming party on the show last night!
What a bunch of two face losers you people are. If Alex and Simon were not on TV you would rip this renovation to shreds, that being said is it St. Barts or the plastic pool in the back yard for Alex and Simon this summer?
As interested as I am in their reno, Im 100x more interested in how they are in person. Are they essentially how they are portrayed on the show or are they totally different?
I love deep red walls in traditional rooms, I mean rooms with contrasting moldings and fireplace mantels etc.
This paint job looks to be very well done. It is difficult to get good, deep, even red like that. I really like it.
The red couch and lamp shades on the other hand, overdo it.
But it is a very luxe statement.
I don’t see any sign of the book shelves they said they wanted to build and fill with “classics that we’re going to buy at the Strand. Because, you know, it’s so nice to have lots of books about” even if you don’t read them…
Don’t think you can tell much from these photos, but I DO like the big glass windows/doors in the back walls.
Oh and also, these people are totally reasonable, nice, and fun to be around in the real world. On the teevees, the editors are looking for conflict and nuttiness, so that gets played up.
As the architect for the project, working on this thing was a lot of fun, and for all you haters out there the place looks better than the collection of photos above. Although disclaimer I had nothing to do with the paint choices and lighting design – the whole vibe of the decor is different that anything I would do myself. But it’s really fun, I mean who can argue with a bright red room and a 10′ high photograph of Alice Cooper?
To answer one of the questions above, yes the deck is going to be built in phase two, as with some other parts. Who knows, perhaps that would be done in the next season, but really this is being held up by my welder, Weng, having gone MIA he’s now somewhere in Indonesia. When he gets back, they get a deck.
a. no way they are that different from the monkeys they portrayed themselves as last year…
b. who gives their kids a french name if neither of them speaks french?
c. this show is stupid – 2 arent even housewives, actually soon to be 3.
d. just lame lame lame
but im glad they seem nice in real life to whomever knows them
Props to Alex & Simon for living in the house while under renovation and for at least putting their own spin on things.
As an aside, this couple does seem more down-to-earth than Ramona & Mario. Two of the craziest (Ramona)and rudest (Mario)individuals here in NYC.
I think it turned out pretty cool. They seemed pleased with it on the show last night, so good for them for successfully executing their vision. They are growing on me this season as well, particularly Alex. They live one block over from us and are always very friendly. I heard from someone affiliated with the show that the other women were pissed Bravo helped them with the product placement deal…
