If you own a house (or an apartment, for that matter) you undoubtably have a list of both chores that you NEED to do as well as dream improvements you’re dying to do when your checking account permits it. Let’s hear what your New Year’s resolutions are in the home improvement department. Personally, we’re hoping to splurge for some built-in bookshelves in the living room and upgrade the sound system. Unfortunately, unless ad rates and demand spikes, moving the kitchen down to the parlor floor will have to wait ’til 2012 or later…Have a great New Year. See you on the other side!
Mopar- I’m thinking for young kids- get ’em early.
Denton- I envision dave demanding, not begging. 🙂
Moved in on July 4th weekend 2010 and we still need door knobs/handles for bedrooms, bathrooms, closet and office. Also need a headboard, clean windows would also be nice!
hey mopar, the windows are not horrible, but they’re the cheap white vinyl ones from the 1980s. Everything that was in this house was done as cheap as possible. The inert gas is probably long gone and they feel a bit chilly. We could do a lot better.
Same with the roof, it’s OK, but probably twenty layers of crap.
Actually I think my current Mega Millions dream house would be the wood clapboard at 56 Middagh (the blue beauty with three gated parking spaces next to it).
finish my home, survive the project and move out of my parent basement, ah to potential of 2011 is palpable…
Denton, I used to think the same thing, but honestly, I think all I want now is a nice, low maintenance 2 bedroom condo, and a small condo in Vermont, instead of another house.
As for de-cluttering, I used to be the world’s greatest packrat, particularly after my family died off and I broke up all their houses. I’ve been decluttering since I sold the house in ’06, and decided a few months ago to now get rid of a ton more stuff that I was certain I’d always keep. I love clean surfaces, and I love everything in its place.

Hey, if you figure out how to do this, I’d love to hear about it…
We put in new closets/shelving this year, and are happy with the kitchen/bath.
But in the Mega Millions dream category, I’d buy the Capote house and apply for a permit to turn it into a small hotel. When they turned me down, I would chop it into 9 condos
I’m with mopar….finish the 2nd floor unit and rent it out (we’re a year behind our schedule, but who’s counting?) Happy new year one and all!
