stoner-reno-123110.jpgIf you own a house (or an apartment, for that matter) you undoubtably have a list of both chores that you NEED to do as well as dream improvements you’re dying to do when your checking account permits it. Let’s hear what your New Year’s resolutions are in the home improvement department. Personally, we’re hoping to splurge for some built-in bookshelves in the living room and upgrade the sound system. Unfortunately, unless ad rates and demand spikes, moving the kitchen down to the parlor floor will have to wait ’til 2012 or later…Have a great New Year. See you on the other side!

  1. Finish up the rental apt and get a renter! We’re only nine months behind schedule.

Stop the regret about everything we did wrong?

    Get windows that close!

Move the brand new washer hookup that we put in the wrong place…fix all the basement leaks…do something about the mudroom and rebuild the ravaged mudroom toilet…re-do the parlor floor bath so stepping in front of the sink does not produce sewer gas…Figure out how to make the front vent stop stinking up the house…silver the roof…order some wallpaper samples. Decorate.

What do you think? Is this realistic?

  2. dave- you could start a consultant business and do that now. If you set it up as a non-profit, you could get grants. It’s a great idea and one that is sorely needed in your and my neighborhoods

  3. Actually re-painting baseboards and spindles is something I need to do. Had the floors sanded this year.

Will probably need to re-stain the deck. The ironwork needs another coat of black.
