Replace wall to wall with hardwood floors

Hi – looking for someone to rip up the horrible 20 year old wall to wall carpeting in our new house in Bed-Stuy and install hardwood floors. When our house was renovated years ago sadly most of the original details were removed – hoping to find a contractor who could see if there are any original floors left under the carpets, or be able to re-create something that looks similar to how the floors looked when house was originally built. Please let me know if you have any recommendations. Thanks!
