Intercom System

We have to choose an intercom system for the front door in our house. Anyone have any systems they would recommend or discourage? Thanks so much, Lara

I feel I have to clarify something in my post: I mention that the Lee Dan had failed due to exposure to the elements. When I called Lee Dan, they explained to me that the system my customer had was meant for interior (lobby or vestibule) installation. The contractor who had done her reno had installed the interior system outside – and it had lasted for some time out there and so far as I know she continues to use it there with the knowledge that it will again give her trouble.

I second the Lee Dan nomination. I purchased a custom Lee DaN system with electronic postal door strike last fall from them and the customer service and fast shipping was excellent. there are many but I will mention Lee Dan for one reason. A customer of mine had a Lee Dan system that had been exposed to the elements and needed some parts replaced. she could not live without the system. I called Lee Dan (they are in Hauppauge just off Vets Highway) and asked them to send me the component parts. They were concerned that I may not have correctly figured which parts were broken, so they said, “put the unit in the car and drive it out to us and we will check it for you and fix it the same day”. I took it to them and left it there and went to lunch; when I returned it was done and they only charged for the parts and my customer had her unit back the same day. For that, I recommend Lee Dan. check out Aiphone, it´s a wired system. You can do 1 to xxx units, video or no video. Works great for me – I have no complaints.
