Dumping cable

We have a large Channel Master antenna on the roof. It pulls in many local stations and the picture quality is far superior to cable or satellite. We purchased it from J&R on 7th Ave in the Slope: (718) 638-3040\. They subcontract the installation. I’m afraid I don’t have a record at hand of the cost. We have a small TV in a rear bedroom with a window-sill antenna that works far less well (yes, we could get it connected to the rooftop antenna — just haven’t got around to it). We love streaming via the Apple TV and love having no cable bill!

We are cutting the cord with Time Warner and looking for a specific brand/model digital antenna to get basic network channels. Anyone have something that currently works well for them? SSlope area.

I live in PLG and have recently done same. I’ve used this DTV decoder and antenna with moderate success: – Decoder: http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-HW180STB-HomeWorx-Converter-Function/dp/B00G5RXM16 – Antenna: http://www.amazon.com/Homeworx-HW110AN-Super-Indoor-Antenna/dp/B008KVUAGU Approx 20 channels, 10 of which I’ve never heard, but get good reception on Fox, and a few others. Note that I’ve spent zero time playing with antenna placement (right now sitting next to decoder box), so would suspect that with some trial and error this would improve. Roof placement of antenna would help even more – I have two DTV dishes (and coax connection to my living room) from prior owner still on roof, so wonder if I could somehow modify?

The antenna posted by the above pwnnyc works well and I actually use it. But I have it attached to the wall to help amplify it. It’s not pretty right now and I plan on using a roof antenna when it gets warmer but for indoor that one works. We use the Mohu antenna and it’s great. Put it up high on a window or wall and you should get plenty of channels. We also have a Roku and the combination gets us everything we ever want except for NY1.
