Can someone recommend an honest roofer?

Brownstone roof looking a bit ragged. Possibly a leak. Also looks like several layers of roofing. Need an honest evaluation and possible replacement.

We had a good experience with CTG construction. They do tear off as they did to for mine. But it is more costly. Call Millad at 718-669-8305\. Ask him, he will give you good price and give you suggestion what might be feasible for you.

I had a very good experience with Leakmasters, and recommend them. The brownstone roof you describe is a flat roof, even though it is slightly pitched.

I just had a good experience with Premier. The two guys they sent were experiened and efficient. I did the work below the ceiling and they installed two skylights from above and other repairs. Fred, the owner made all the ordering and arraingements in advance, so on the day of work, everything went like clockwork.

Check with **All Renovation Construction** (http://www.allrenovationllc.co…), they just replace the 20 foot gutter at the back of my **Brooklyn Brownstone**, they did roofing as well since the original 100 year old copper gutter was removed from the back of the roof. A flat roof is different than a pitched roof when it comes the load distribution with each subsequent layer of roofing. Ask those above mentioned reputable roofing contractors about that. A pitched roof by code can’t be more than 3 layers of roofing. That kind of roof can’t support any more weight than that. Plenty of unscurpulous contractors will tell you to rip up the roof, adding thousands of unnecessary dollars to the cost of thje job. A flat roof, unless damaged, can support many,many layers of roofing.

I had my 16 x 30 flat roof redone last year after getting estimates from Premier Roofing, Green Roofing and Leakmasters. All three were professional and courteous. My experience was that no one wanted to talk about doing a tear-off. Too messy; too complicated; and possible asbestos issues. So everyone wants to just add a new layer without too much discussion. I recommend you get at least 3 opinions and make an informed choice from there. Be sure to ask about the choice of roofing material and the warrantee for the material vs the warantee for the workmanship. Good luck!
