Any insights into getting a break on sanitation fines??
What’s wrong with this picture? OP doesn’t live in the building, nor live in the country. OP lets fines accumulate, and now seeks to cut a deal on payment. And, oh, of course, the fines are the result of “tenant lack of proper handling of garbage, etc.” because OP doesn’t seem to use a management company to take out trash. Yeah, let’s cut a break for OP, the beloved neighbor and landlord.

Hi, We have a building (where we don’t live) and accumulated quite a few fines over the years due to tenant lack of proper handling of garbage, etc. We heard that you can make a deal with sanitation if you pay them off at the end of the year? Any thoughts? Thanks!

I write in a paragraph on my leases making tenants responsible for complying w/ NYC rubbish & recycling laws & holding them responsible for fines. I’ve never heard of ‘end of year’ easing & the one time I went for adjudication of an unfair ticket I got, I lost.
