Taking out the trash

We purchased a 3 family home last year that has gone through a gut reno and have just rented both apartments and I am curious how to handle the garbage situation. Is the landlord responsible for “taking out the trash” or is there another way? My initial idea was to purchase 3 garbage cans and 2 recycle cans since there are 3 units and have everyone in charge of taking out their own garbage but in asking a couple of friends they seem to think this is my responsibility. It just makes me ask myself what would happen if I didn’t live in the home? I would have to hire someone to take my tenants trash out of the garbage and place it in the street? Seems a little ridiculous to me. How do all of you handle this with your tenants?
