Converting a single family to a 2-family

This is very difficult to estimate without a lot more information.  It would be best to set up walk throughs with a few contractors and architects but obviously since you are just looking, could be difficult to set up with the broker.  If you can send the address and floors plans we can review that would be a big help.  Please feel free to email me at geisner@builtinstudio.com and we can outline a scope of work  from the plans and get ballpark numbers from there. I am looking at a single family home in Brooklyn and may want to convert it to a 2-family home in the future.  I know it varies from case to case but what is the approximate (or average) cost to convert and renovate a 1-family house to a 2-family house?  Thank you in advance for your help.
