Alarm system installer

A wired system is best for homes that aren’t finished yet. Like Levi, I suggest you get a wireless system like the one he suggested. Symetrix is also fine (I personally use this).

Hi everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for a reputable, fair priced company to install a wired-in home security system.  I would also welcome any thoughts on a good monitoring company as well. Thanks in advance for your help!

I know the name is corny, but Alarms R Us (Bob Ingrisano, 718.996.6900, www.alarmsrus.com). We bought and movedbob Ing into a building that had a basic wireless system that they tailored to our unit (3 family house; alarm is for our duplex). They were really nice to work with and came highly recommended by friends of mine. I don’t know if they do wired-in systems, but find out. They also provide the monitoring, even though they themselves don’t do it. Typically you can get a discount on your homeowners insurance if you have an alarm and that pays for the monthly fee.

I know you said wired but I encourage you to check out a wireless (gsm) system called Frontpoint Security. You install it yourself and it is sooo simple to install. Monitoring is inexpesive as well. With most alarm companies that do free install- they usually make you sign lengthy contracts to recoup their installation cost.  With Frontpoint we bought the system out right for $300-$400 and monitoring is $30 a month. We have all alerts emailed to us and a kick @ss iPhone app.  Levi Capland
