I couldn’t stand the old drab yellow…

Points for discussion:
*DIBS is a jerk
*The turquoise vs. a deeper blue
*White moldings
*Excellent taste in decorating

PS I used Glidden true Turquoise that I got from HD. Amazingly it was $15 a gallon and was as good as painting with Benj Moore, Sherwin Williams or anything else considered higher quality

  1. Gee, I just found this three months later. Love it! Love the walls and furniture together. If you want to “pull it all together,” get some pillows and vases in a few different colors, and repeat some shades of blue a few times. (Not necessarily the same exact shade.)

    Do it Adam!

  3. BOLD MOVE DIBS posting your interior shots for the frownstoners to comment on. I thought about posting some built-ins that I custom made but I was concerned about having my artistic skills ripped to pieces on this site.

I tip my hat to you.

  4. Not crazy about picking out the moldings in white. A little fussy for my taste. We actually removed our picture rail in the parlor so we could paint one solid color floor to ceiling. It’s a slightly more modern look. And the picture rail itself is a few dollars worth of stock trim that could easily be replaced by a subsequent owner. New curtains might help “anchor” the room and get the furniture to work better with the blue. Perhaps in a dark brown. Brown and blue always look good together.

  5. I wanted to photograph it from that angle on Sunday, slope, in the late afternoon when the sun is shining in, but I went out drinking instead.

  6. Late to the party but it looks great, dibs. We’ve got a house full of white molding, so no complaints from me. A nice clean look. The color looks very French, 18th century. Some gold leafing would be poifect. Room and furniture would look brighter if photoed from near the windows to get the bright sunlight behind the lens.

  7. tHANKS FOR THE INVITE dibs, oOPS … Thanks for the invite DIBS but I rush home nowadays to spend time with my 3 month old Labrador. I’ve resolved to go out more for pleasure instead of stupid sales dinners this year so I’m determined to catch one of these Brownie functions in the near future.

  8. dibs,

I like the color and the room,
in particular the floors and the
use of picture molding for actually hanging pictures.
    A stately room,
Is the lighting fixture attached to the old gas line?
I had the hardest time with that detail in my entry foyer,
finally had to apply a new circular mount to the joists beneath the plaster lathe. without distrubing too much of the plaster medallion
if you get a chance you should check out the period rooms at the Brooklyn museum.

  9. moreteasir…any inclination to show up for drinks at Last Exit tomorrow night.

I know originally you and I used to spar (about what, I can no lomger remember). Come out & meet everyone. tey’re really all a lot of fun.
