Anyone know of a good oriental wool rug cleaner in Brooklyn? Preferably one that gives a discount for customer drop off.

  1. I’ve used LI Carpet Cleaners, and like and trust them for “everyday” cleaning, but would never send them a treasured antique. I highly recommend Kosker Traditional Rug Repair (owned by Atilla Kosker, owner of the now-closed Knotting Slope). They provide pick-up and delivery. Their website and blog also has information and advice about DIY carpet maintenance: http://bit.ly/mRzPAx

  2. Long Island Carpet Cleaners, on Norman Ave., in Greenpoint is good and gives a discount if you drop your carpet off. WSe’ve used them several times.

BTW, after I bought a used oriental at the Brooklyn Flea I discovered that it isn’t all that difficult to wash a SMALL rug yourself, if you have an outdoor space [and hand-made oriental rugs are always washed–not cleaned].
