W'burg's Walter Foods Expands to Fort Greene
Pretty big news for Dekalb Avenue: Brooklyn Based reports that, since Rice left 166 Dekalb, Williamsburg restaurant Walter Foods has put its name on the new lease. The plan is to open in May and serve lighter fare than the original spot, which serves “chops and seafood.” What do you say, Fort Greene residents…good news…

Nate Smith, who used to be the chef at Spotted Pig in Manhattan(and has now opened Dean Street in Prospect Heights) loves Romans. I usually think it’s a good sign when a place is a destination for a big-time chef.
I’ve eaten at Romans a couple times and both were excellent.
BTW, Dean Street is well worth a visit.
I have had one meal at Roman’s and it was excellent. I’ve eaten at Dinos’ four times. The first two were fine after the last two I don’t know if I’ll try again. Its disappointing because Dino’s is much more affordable.
I’m happy to see anything promising opening in the old rice spot. Rice sucked.
Pretty awesome. Walter Foods is great.
out of my price range >
DH, well, that’s strike 2. strike 1 was not opening a marlow
roman’s is the pits, try dino across the way.
“Blayze, if this is as good as williamsburg location, you’ll be schlepping.”
speaking of williamsburg restaurant owners opening places in fort greene – WTF is up with Romans? that place is godawful.
It’s sounding like their food is fantastic. We’ve never been there. Williamsburg is a bit off my regular beaten path. I’m excited to try it out when they open on Dekalb. I wasn’t a fan of Rice…at least not the branch at that location. And the morning coffee concession business that rented the space had a rude staffer I did not care for. She was rude once and I didn’t bother going back.
Blayze, if this is as good as williamsburg location, you’ll be schlepping.
