IMBY: Hagelslag! My Dutch stepmother used to let us put hagelslag on our buttered bread for breakfast. The original Dutch hagelslag are much more chocolately than any chocolate sprinkles I’ve eaten in America.
I’ve never heard the word “jimmies” before. It’s “sprinkles” here in the mid-Atlantic region.
However, Wikipedia says sprinkles are also called “hundreds of thousands” or “jimmie jams.”

Wber, your theory only sometimes applies. Grocery stores, laundermats, etc. want to be as far apart from each other as possible unless they fill a niche. Items you comparison shop for like shoes want to be near each other.
Also, the other deli is on its way out. There for a for rent sign on the other deli a couple weeks back.
