Aspiring Bodega Owner #1: Hey, Partner, let’s start a bodega.
Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea, buddy. Where?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #1: How about four doors down from an existing deli?
Aspiring Bodega Owner #2: Great idea! We can’t lose! GMAP
Update: The 713 Deli has actually been closed for a while so maybe the folks opening the new place at 707 Fulton are actually business geniuses and it’s our commentary that’s superfluous!

  1. I understand about things like the ‘diamond district’ or the ‘theatre district’ & there used to be “book row” on 4th Av. but have never gotten how a gazillion shoe shops, for instance, on 8th St in Manhattan between 6th & 5th stay in business.

  2. I’ve never actually eaten a bodega sandwich. I’ve yet to come across one where the meets and cheeses are the same coloring as my skin…which looks great on me, IMHO!, but not so much on turkey and cheddar.

  3. There are many diff’t shades of bodega. I’m most interested in the quality/cost of bodega sandwiches…but everybody’s got their own special blend of criteria I suppose.

Anybody have a fave for bodega sandwiches in BK?

Mine is for this joint on South 5th and B’way across from Moto. They’ve got this turkey/avocado dealy for like 5.50. It’s grand.

  4. Rob — STEP OFF. They’re called jimmies. I don’t care if you non-New Englanders say “sprinkles.” That’s just gay. They’re called jimmies. Rainbow jimmies and chocolate jimmies.
