Associated took over the two storefronts next door, the old Beso restaurant space and the late, lamented Donuts coffee shop, for its expansion. A new awning was being installed on the building yesterday morning.

CMU- no bxgrl is not a rabbi or a priest- but guest 7:42 decided to teach me the meaning of the Cain and Abel story on another thread (something he royally mucked up as some blathering on about polytheistic man as puppet establishing his role in the monotheistic universe when he says to G-d, “Am I my brothers keeper”). At the very least if I wanted to look down my nose at someone (who he condemns as a “silly Liberal” by using the bible to establish my moral superiority and societal ethics, I know the correct names.
Guest- oh really??? That was you???? Oh gosh how would I, silly Liberal, not know that? Seeing as you posted less than 2 minutes after the first one. Simply answering you in kind- and of course you didn’t get it.
If you want to claim to have a better understanding of the bible, you should have a greater command of your details. And next time try not to use a flawed and weak argument to prove your point (whatever it was regarding my politics). If that makes me a victim of a schizotypal or paranoid disorder, thanks for the diagnosis but it’s obvious you’ve read too many psycho self-help books.
Back to the point; Biff, isn’t there still the Atlantic Ave. Key Food? Maybe I was wrong in thinking we were discussing the one on Montague. The At Ave. one was newer and bigger and somewhat cleaner but the aisles were like an obstacle course.
Perelandra was once on Montague St., in the 80’s I think and a wonderful little piece left over from the 60’s. I used to shop there and after it moved but it was just so expensive. What I’m curious about is why supermarkets are disappearing all over the City. There was an article about it in the papers the other day.

Can you religious hacks take your opiates and get back to the topic of the expanded grocery store?

“What does it say about your “better education”, that a layman like myself has a better understanding of the implications of religion than you do.”
Eh? is bxgirl a rabbi or a priest? Else how are you a layman by comparison?
Iae, a knowledge of the Bible is hardly a pre-requisite to being educated. In case you’ve forgotten, there are billions of well-educated non-Christians around.
I think Legion could use a dildo.
Bxgrl, I’m sorry I missed that, but I’m confident you more than held your own, as you’ve proven you can do over and over. As someone who’s been raked over here more times than the Cherry Esplanade at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, I know the feeling! Don’t let anyone drag you down. But investment sales and discussions on the bible? Ok, I feel a bit better. Had you told me I missed another Sex and the City or debate on requiring login IDs, I would feel much worse!
Back to the topic. I think the Key Foods is tolerated here due to the lack of choice for groceries, especially since the Gristedes fire (not that Gristedes was much of an alternative let me tell you!) I’m hoping the eventual (fingers crossed) arrival of Trader Joe’s, combined with Sahadi’s, Garden of Eden and Perelandra will allow me to get everything I need without ever having to step into that Key Foods – although I will give them credit for having a (slightly) more friendly staff than the typical New York grocery / drug store.
this will be a good stop for all the park slope stroller moms after they go to the dildo shop
Silly bxgrl,
That was me correcting myself. I think you are wound up a bit. Try some prozac for that personality disorder.
I never claimed an “intimate knowledge” of the bible, only an understanding of it. You still don’t get it after going through the trouble of obtaining a degree in it.
What does it say about your “better education”, that a layman like myself has a better understanding of the implications of religion than you do.
As far as better educated, I kind of doubt it. I have a few degrees myself, but it’s not about that, it’s about your obsessive and defensive nature; revealed when confronted with an intellectual argument that counters your own world view. That speaks volumes. Look up, schizotypal and paranoid disorders.
By the way, in case you missed it, that whole “Legion…for we are many” quote is from the bible as well. Mark 5:9
9:48- I blush- yes I misspelled a word. However I might point out that a typo is a far cry from not knowing the correct spelling of a name known to western Civilization for over 5000 years. (especially by one who claims such an intimate knowledge of the bible- who’s the poseur now?)Gosh guy- it’s only 4 letters. I guess the pie on your face is cherry cause it’s awfully red.
Er- Which legion are you since the real Legion posted after you did (and thank you for that- I had a great laugh).
Still liberal and obviously better educated.
