Associated took over the two storefronts next door, the old Beso restaurant space and the late, lamented Donuts coffee shop, for its expansion. A new awning was being installed on the building yesterday morning.

Legion
bxgrl,
lol, I knew I’d find you here you silly liberal. You need a spellchecker youself.
you spelled “Publically” wrong.
Look it up, then take that pie off your face you poseur.
Call me Legion, for we are many…..
Biff- I really needed you yesterday as I was raked over the coals of hell by some guy who tried to teach me the meaning of Cain and Abel – except he spelled Cain “Cane” and “Kane”-
Have to agree about Key food on Montague. Shopped there many years, always a ewwww. there’s one here in CH, actually marginally better than that one. It always surprised me that a dirty, poorly run supermarket in a high end area like that would be tolerated for long. But I guess it is still.
(Yeah- you would have loved the thread on Investment sales too.)
I asked Alex (the owner, I think, maybe just the manager?) a couple years ago why they don’t sell beer. I thought he was going to say it was because he was Muslim (never asked him just guessing), but he said it’s because of all the hassle of bottle returns that comes with it…
When the expansion was getting started I asked him what he was going to do with all the new space he said something like “experiment” — apparently he feels that previously he only had enough space to do the things that he knew the neighborhood would find essential — not enough space to try out new offerings… Now he will be able to rotate in new offerings and see what people bite.
I really miss Beso!
That Associated was not bad, most of the time. Hopefully this will allow them to better compete w Key Food. Being across from Red White & Bubbly was very convenient.
Each Key Food and Associated are independently owned and operated – they arent a chain they are a buying cooperative.
Dave, I unfortunately actually had to do some work here at the Death Star for a change. Total bummer.
Regarding Key Foods, not sure about the one on 5th but unfortunately 2:56’s got it right with their Montague Street store. I wonder if Trader Joe’s is accepting volunteers to help speed along their opening.
They dont sell beer now
