The two storefronts next to Willie’s Dawgs on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets are about to be home to a couple new businesses. According to a sign that’s gone up, one will be a new pizza place called Prego’s. Contractors working on the store say it’s supposed to open very soon. More exciting: A poster on Brooklynian says there’s word the storefront next to Prego’s will be a banh mi joint, and a store owner on the block told us he’d heard the same rumor. GMAP

  1. I can’t even tell you how much I love Lot 2, Kens. Denton has great taste.

I’ve been wanting to check out Le P’tit Paris.

Also, I want to try Busacco again now that Katy Sparks has taken over as Executive Chef.

Another great Park Slope restaurant which doesn’t get enough attention (partially because of locale at Douglas and 4th) is Ghenet, the Ethiopian place. SOOOOOOO good!!!

Shockingly (and this must be new) the Nolita Ghenet on Mulberry looks to have closed and now their Park Slope location is the only one left!

  2. Benson – you wont be disappointed (they make it very rare – its a huge steak and takes awhile so if you like it more that super red – ask for it medium – dont wory – it wont be)

I agree I dont see a “classic” steakhouse doing well in PS – it doesnt have the right crowd – I’m not getting my friends/buisness collegues to come to PS for a “Steak Dinner” (mybe Blue Ribbon that has a good steak but thats different)

and I’m not taking my kids to an upscale Steakhouse. The best I could see is maybe a midlevel NON-chain version of Steak -n- Ale (do those still exist?) or Outback ….where if the steak is good – I could get the kids something to eat too – but a real NYC Steakhouse? – who is the customer in PS? – I dont see it.

As for the question “What is Park Slope lacking (besides a Steakhouse) that you’d prefer to see here? ”

Maybe I am missing something but where is a decent Greek restaurant??? (Granted the above location is not suitable)

  3. 54 comments in this thread – wow, no wonder the restaurant of the day is always a PS local.

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life was some kind of Central or South American, years ago. I’ve been trying to duplicate it ever since. Funny, I’ve eaten at Bogota too.
