StreetLevel: Pizza and Maybe Banh Mi for 5th Ave
The two storefronts next to Willie’s Dawgs on 5th Avenue between 5th and 6th streets are about to be home to a couple new businesses. According to a sign that’s gone up, one will be a new pizza place called Prego’s. Contractors working on the store say it’s supposed to open very soon. More exciting:…

More exciting: A poster on Brooklynian says there’s word the storefront next to Prego’s will be a banh mi joint, and a store owner on the block told us he’d heard the same rumor. GMAP

From my understanding, they were remodeling, but perhaps you are correct.

> BTW: does ANYONE beside myself try to dress up for dinner in PS?
Does putting on my good jeans count?
Oh, and I finally tried James recently for brunch. It was excellent. Everything tasted really fresh and it was all delicious. Will have to go back for dinner some time.
FSRG;
Thanks! I’m building up an appetite already, thinking about it.
I agree that a traditional “Suits and cigar” type steakhouse won’t cut it in PS (BTW: does ANYONE beside myself try to dress up for dinner in PS?). I think the location that 11217 mentioned (on the corner of 7th Ave and 3rd) would be perfect for a “non-Applebee” Applebee-type place. A casual place for local folks, where one could get a good steak and traditional American grub, while feeding the kids.
A group of us went to Cubana Cafe last weekend. We wanted to have brunch at Flatbush Farm, but it was packed and we didn’t want to wait, so we popped across the street to give Cubana Cafe a try.
It was pretty good. Tasty food, good portions, decent prices, and very good service.
OMG I just looked at Bonita menu and am salivating. YUMMMM!!!
Snappy we are soooo going.

“Maybe I am missing something but where is a decent Greek restaurant???”
There’s a brand new Greek place opening on 7th Avenue and 8th Street called Okeanos.
Plus there is Athena at 525 6th Avenue which I’ve heard is quite good.
Isn’t Helios Greek also? Or they at least have some Greek food on the menu, I think…
