Iris Nails, which has four existing locations in Manhattan, is scheduled to open at the corner of Smith and Pacific Streets in February. As Pardon Me For Asking noted last month, the asking rent for the 1,400-square-foot space was originally $14,000 a month. Yikes! Wonder what the ultimate number was. GMAP

  1. “But they add nothing positive to a neighborhood and belong in suburban strip malls, not historic Brooklyn.”

I’d say they add something positive to those who frequent them and live no where near suburban strip malls.

Clearly the fact that they are on every corner means in fact that they ARE a positive factor for many.

    Just not you.

Your comments, per usual make no sense.

but “history” broolyn is FILLED to the brim with lovely ladies who want their nails done! so clearly they do belong here.

  3. remember this could also be a “happy ending” place as well with rooms in the back, so the rent might very easily be paid off in a matter of days. also isnt this in brooklyn heights? isnt there that high end massage parlor that gives happy endings and sexual favors that was exposed awhile back in the same area?

  4. I wouldn’t rent to a nail salon unless they paid wacko rent in advance. Nail salons are at best a notch above old school porn venders. They “cheapen” a building.

I feel they same way about wig stores.
