Streetlevel: Nails for Smith Street
Iris Nails, which has four existing locations in Manhattan, is scheduled to open at the corner of Smith and Pacific Streets in February. As Pardon Me For Asking noted last month, the asking rent for the 1,400-square-foot space was originally $14,000 a month. Yikes! Wonder what the ultimate number was. GMAP

Actually, the sign proclaims the place to be called “Iris Nail.” These places are almost always singular: “Gold Nail.” “Pretty Nail.” And so on. This bugs me, since most customers probably present at least 10 of them.
“plus some people have foot fetishes. i dont think hand fetishes exist.”
OK rob but then they should PAY ME to get a pedicure!
Any woman who wants to play w my size 14s, hit me up!
I haven’t resolved never to complain again on Brownstoner (though, I have been far more absent lately). Oh, and it was a joke. Yes, $120 /sq ft is farking absurd for ANY business unless it’s a tug job booth (but then it would only have to be about 40 sq ft)

thanks jessi.
Denton, because feet tend to be nasty. A pedicure, unlike a manicure, isn’t just about taking off polish, pushing cuticle, filing and painting. It involves scrubbing and attacking calluses and dead skin.
“A manicure is 12-14 dollars including 5 minute neck arm and upper back massage at the end. A pedicure starts out at 40 and can go as high as 70.”
So why do the feet cost five times as much as the hands? There’s ten of each…
11217,
You oughta layoff all that nutcracker punch. It’s killing way too many brain cells.
“Is $120 /sq ft a lot? It seems pretty reasonable to me.”

It was $12 /sq ft in 2000.
Does that seem pretty reasonable?
If the answer is yes, then I presume your 2010 New Years resolution must be “I will never again complain on Brownstoner about the sustainability of real estate prices.”
That seems pretty reasonable to me.
