having a character on a television show eat a cupcake from a bakery does not make for hbo promoted cupcakes.
that’s one of the most ignorant comments i’ve ever heard.
Magnolia sucks my big toe, but so does Cakeman’s alleged “red velvet”, which it is not.
It’s about how it tastes. And if something makes cake more moist, fine, great. There are way too many too-dry cakes in the hipster bakers. No matter how pretty the storefront or display, the cake (not just the frosting) still needs to be great. Like my peeve, Magnolia Bakery, gross. Those cupcakes are horrible. No flavor, no texture, pure sugar icing (talk about frosting only being made of sugar). But around here on Brownstoner everyone would gush about Magnolia because the presentation is stylish. I’ll take stacks of Cakeman’s red velvet slices inside his sloppy store any day, over those overrated HBO-promoted cupcakes.
OMG Clinton Baking Co- the food is soooo good. I have mastered the grits so I don’t have to take the trip so often to get my home fix:) Cakemans’ cake is not an original red velvet, sorry but, the cake is not colored with all of that food coloring-yuk and the coloring ingedient causes the cake to be moist and look like actual velvet. Anyway, there is enough to go around
Look, we need a Cupcake Cafe (like the one on 9th Ave in manhattan I think) type bakery in the nabe – these guys better bring it if they’re going to bake!
I’d take a Clinton Baking Co type breakfast spot in the nabe as well – gotta tell you we rave about what we have, but there’s loads we don’t yet have!
Come’on cookers, bring it on to the nabes in the county of kings!
This stretch of flatbush has tons on signs that are this bad. This one looks professionally made, however, and not homemade. I dare them to keep it.
How about lil miss muffin and her stuffin across the street which has a homemade painted picture of lil miss stirring a nasty pot between her legs? They make amazing muffins out of her stuffin over there.
5:31….am I likening Cakeman to Applebees, no silly. In case you haven’t heard, Applebees is now selling Cakeman Raven’s red velvet cake.
To Brownstoner, the multiple personality guest is arguing with him/herself. please close “da” post! and get over it Da’ Cake Spott is a Brooklyn thang!
How lucky are we that this is all that we have to worry about! Welcome to the nabe Da Cake Spott. Real life is easier than this blog I’m sure.
