Thanks slope…I remember when they wanted to tour the collection, there was a big uproar. I’m reading about the move now. There’s no set date.
I went to the Barnes Foundation maybe 5 – 7 years ago. I will def. make a trip down there soon….and then I’ll go visit DIBS and he’ll let me drive one of his cars.
Glad you enjoyed it Cobble. If you like that kinda stuf there’s a few others in the Hudson Valley, south from Olana; Sunnyside, Lyndhurst. Cortlandt (sp?) Manor, Kykuit, and another I forget the name.
I’ve been to all of them.
Again If you don’t have a car, I think metro north goes up there. Town of Tarrytown, if I’m not mistaken.
We actually took a ferry from here to Kykuit a couple of years ago…that was fun.
And Newport RI is a must for any house museum luster.
Not sure of the move. Could be a year, three, something like that. I think they are building a new building for it near the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Very tortured legal battles. Bleak House meets the art world. Google search should turn up lots of info and history. Barnes has nice gardens too.

“Yes, dh…they ALWAYS go up in value, like Brooklyn real estate. Well, maybe not condos. :)”
So what would be the equivalent of a Williamsburg condo in the car collecting world? A 1988 Volvo Station Wagon?
