gemini – yeah they are new, but not new construction. there was a fire in the building and it was gut renovated. turned into 9 condos: 3 on the 1st floor, 2 on each of the 2nd, 3rd, and fourth floors. biggest downside for me is no central AC (well, that and the somewhat shady area)…
lol dave. do you ever feel bad tho when an obese woman (or man i guess tho i dont feel as bad for them for some reason) will get on the train and there will be a totally decent sized seat available but she can’t sit there because she is too big? 🙁 it’s like, if it’s next to you, do you get up and offer the two seats to her? when i used to take the 1 train from soho to harlem and reverse i used to always get up and offer my seat to someone who looked like they wanted it, but then i stopped. one woman punched me on the train one day because she said my umbrella kept poking her. im not talking like a nudge, it was an actual punch that would qualify as assault worthy! i didnt even know how to respond (i did call her something tho that i wouldnt repeat here) then when i got off i apologized for calling her that. most.akward.train.ride.EVER!
Rob, I’ve never been ‘quit-sick’ like this before. I’m literally dizzy and nauseous to the nth degree. It’s horrible. I don’t know that I’m really ready to quit. That’s pretty stupid of me because I have a strong family history of various types of cancers on both sides and my father smoked for YEARS and has somehow managed to beat bone, mouth, tounge, throat, and prostate cancer.
I can’t believe how much stuff I missed last week! I spent 4 hours catching up on the threads- I thought the comments thread was verrrrry interesting and very happy for the Great EVLL who couldn’t rent my apartment out from under me because the cats signed a 5 year lease :-). I am thrilled she is writing a column for Jon! I am going to set up a web site for her- I’ve screamed at her for years to do something with this. All I can say to MM is- about damn time!
snappy i just re-read your post. if you quit for a few days it’s your body literally expelling itself of the tar and toxins. everyone gets sick when they quit. it’s actually a good thing. ever notice (if you have smokers cough) it goes away when you smoke and actually soothes your throat? quit snappy!!!! let’s pick a date and quit together!!!
SNAPPY YES!!!! those cigarettes are terrible. back after college for a few months when i was unemployed i used to by USA’s, Dorals, etc… the generic cigs. they are SO bad. they must be cut saw dust or something. whenever id be broke id buy those before i found a black market newport dealer. Snappy my guy sells cigs for 7 bux but you can also get newports on 125th street for 6 (it might be 7 now) and a number of bodegas up in harlem, you just have to say “under counter”. if youve never bought from them before they will first pretend to not know what you mean, just repeat it and you can get cheaper cigarettes, from literally just under the counter. the only thing tho is that it’s always mostly newports, which is perfect for me since that’s my brand.
honestly tho, im thinking about quitting. even at a discounted 7 bux a pack, the habit is killing me physically and financially. when people will ask me something like let’s go to the movies and i have to decline cuz i need to buy cigarettes, you just KNOW your priorities are wrong.
the only problem is that i enjoy smoking SO much. :-/ given that my grandfather and mother both died of lung cancer and my grandmother has emphysema (sp?) that would be enough to quit.
uncledunkel – I havent checked out Park Place – are they new condos
Gravis – good to know that streeteasy is getting on their game. my property was listed as being in Windsor Terrace and I emailed them saying, um no….it’s not in WT but Park Slope – please change and they did, the next day
