  1. Rob, I’ve called 311 several times and they keep sending me patches. I am severely allergic to the adhesive on those patches and can’t wear them. They won’t send me the gum 🙁

THL, I don’t know how long I’ll be staying strong. I have to get through this interview this afternoon and I’m so nauseous I can’t stand it. I may have to smoke today and then try again tomorrow.

  2. Hey wasder- thanks! I confess to being totally lazy in Florida. I did some work on it but now have to really get the nose to the grindstone again. We’re having our annual Palm Sunday interfaith service at the Wall (on Keyspan Park, facig the parking lot)if you want to come and take pictures. A lot of the FDNY and NYPD families come- it’s very moving and beautiful. It’s open to the public. We also had our first candlelight service on the evening of Sept.10th. It wasn’t sad at all- family members came up and spoke about the people they lost. Most of them told wonderfully funny stories so we wound up laughing and (a little) crying at the same time.

I’ve told the founder i want to do a book about the Wall (keep it in mind please!)- but it won’t be about 9-11 per se. It’ll be about how the Wall came to Coney Island, celebrating memories and the people on the wall. Some of their stories are awe inspiring. Of course I’ve already taped the great EVLL for writing help 🙂 Hey! She had a week off while I was in FLA. Now it’s back to cracking the whip and making tenant demands 🙂

  3. My Usual Suspect posts are being delayed…I posted under the milestone hit thread above.

So what’s the deal? We get lambasted under the commenting thread and Mr. B then announces how the site hits are at an all-time high?

  4. snappy i hear ya. it sucks. im not ready to quit either. call 311 tho, i think they will still send you patches and gum for free. just put it aside in case one day you decide to quit. a few years ago i ordered the free patches from the nyc government program and wound up abusing them :-/ id smoke during the day and wear the patch to sleep. one of the major side effects of the patch, especially if you wear it at night, is that it gives you intense lucid vivid wacked out dreams. it’s like youre completely tripping in your sleep and totally aware of it. i was doing that for weeks. i totally could have had a stroke or heart attack in my sleep. terrible

  5. “ever notice (if you have smokers cough) it goes away when you smoke and actually soothes your throat?”

I have a hardcore smoker friend and whenever he coughs like a lung is going to flop out onto the table I say, “QUICK, have smoke and glue that stuff back down I think it’s starting to loosen up!”

    I know, I’m evil!

I used to smoke and quit quite some time ago. The trick for me was NOT doing anything that I associated with smoking. For instance drinking. I didn’t drink for about 8 months because it inevitably made me have a cigarette. I also didn’t go out for breaks at work. I tried to either bring lunch or order in. Thing was every time I walked out of the doorway my brain said “Light Up Cig NOW!”.

Denton- I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your “Inn” gets to keep it’s vacancy sign lit.

    Bxgrl- Welcome back!

  6. Can we all go claim our royalty cheques like DIBS tried to do under the traffic thread? So we get lambasted in the commenting thread and then get to hear how the blog traffic hits are at an all-time high? Hmmmph.
