We never had any real conflicts about furniture. Furniture is just another capitalist item where there are too many choices anyway. So harder to whittle down the choices than anything else.
We’re back from our tour of the upper South. We never made it to Richmond tho, we extended our stay on the Outer Banks since the weather was so nice and Mrs. D needed the relaxation.
We spent a day on the Skyline Drive and two on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Really great on what I expect is the off-season.
Charlottsville: Nice college town but too much college and not enuf of the other stuff.
Raleigh/Durham: Too Southern, too automotive. Nice architecture and history to.
Asheville: Awesome. Great Park Slope vibe with an aromatherapy joint on every street. Hippies of all generations. Never saw as many old VW bugs as I did there. Nice walkable downtown with great Art Deco architecture. Plenty of music, wine bars, and beer joints. We looked at some gorgeous Art Deco bungalow style houses, 2500-3000 sft for under 400k.
I used to feel that way, bfarwell- then my ex wanted to put up his velvet painting of a Black panther. No- Not Huey Newton, the fauna version. i learned my lesson.
