  1. Lech;

    I really think you should take a drive around that area before passing judgment on their homes. I know of few homes built today, in any area of the US, that utilize real terra-cotta shingles on their roof. I know a contractor who works on these homes, and those roofs alone easily cost $100K and more.

    Also, I would estimate their size to be more on the order of 4000 square feet.

  2. jackal, in all seriousness, I gave my opinion on last week’s thread. I distinguished between teh RE transactions, which I do not believe are fraudulent or money laundering, and how they made their money which, although by legit and well known retail garment and other businesses, I would imagine a fair amount of sales tax skimming and creative bookkeeping took place along the way to amassing the fortunes. I do believe they are spending their fortunes the way they want.

  3. im more curious what kind of taxes are being paid on these houses. most likely next to nothing. if someone is gonna claim a house is worth 10K, i think they should be paying a toooooooooooon more in property taxes. tho, i believe that should be the case across the boar

    dibs – Please don’t impugn the intelligence of goldfish by comparing them to people. Even after a winter of no contact, Ranger & Hawk eat out of my hand & come to the surface when I ask them to. That’s good long-term memory!

    Whenever I come close to the tank, Oscar and Serafin go all wild. I like to think it is that they are glad to see me but suspect it has something to do with bug pellets. Just like my Aldo and Pippa. I believed that they loved me as I loved them, but in my darker moments suspected that they loved me for my opposing thumb.
