  1. BHS- actually they didn’t. They get less press because more of them are underground. White Supremicists, American Nazis, religious zealots praying for the demise of “immoral” America- they twist their message and hide better but they are as populous as haters on the left. Make no mistake.

  2. It’s funny, anyone on the right whom you’d like to characterize as racist or biggoted make no bones about their beliefs as just that.

The left wing America haters always have to try to “intellectualize” their thinking.

  3. Thank you, Arkady. The talk started out about the individual countries that have had popular uprisings and was interesting, i.e. history, how the activities played out individually. That was helpful. His later bloviations were all over the map and were pretty crazy, definately hateful. I guarantee that even the most liberally oriented PLUSAs would be offended and/or confused by his comments. I have no idea about the audience, but then there was no Q&A.

  4. So I just made plans for drinks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday to take my mind off this break up :o).

DH, are you around Willyburg on Fri/Sat eve? I am going to some bday thing on Fri at Brooklyn Winery with Kasey and then I’ll prolly free up fairly early. And Saturday I have a bday party in Ridgewood but going to grab dinner in willyburg before.

  5. There are some fringe elements of the far right, like the Westboro assholes, who I would call “America hating,” but the far left certainly has higher levels of it.

Back in the 90’s, it seems like there were more far right wing militia, secessionist, and religious groups that were more hating of the country, but they all seemed to disappear after 9/11/2001.

  6. “benson has brought this subject up before. it’s really only the left wing liberal nutjobs who exhibit this profound hate for America.

The self loathers of whom you speak are very commonplace among the liberals as well.”

Yes- just another “intelligent”, well thought-out, unbiased and totally innocuous comment from dave. How unexpected.

  7. I don’t usually instigate political posts, but Rick Santorum having the nerve to tell John McCain that he didn’t know what he was talking about regarding the use of torture, (or “enhanced interrogation” as he calls it) was priceless.

Especially when Santorum, being voted out of office, and having about as much chance of getting briefed by intelligence and military experts as, oh, say I do, is going to tell the media that in his expert opinion, the information wrangled out of prisoners by use of torture, led to the killing of BinLaden. McCain, who is only ON the security committee, aside from being the only man who knows first hand what torture is, is, according to Santorum, out of touch.

You Republicans can scratch him off the list of presidential candidates. Stick a fork in him, he’s done.
