My “once-great” comment regarding France was not intended as a remark on their status wrt gender equality. I intend to mean that France was once a nation that strove for greatness in many fields. One can read the names at the base of the Eifel tower to appreciate the enourmous achievement of the French in previous centuries.
Today it is a nation that is a strange mixture of resentment(about their relative decline), entitlement and cynicism. Nothing can better demonstrate that cynicism than the fact that a man who was widely known to be a repeat, violent sexual predator was one of two leading presidential candidates.
I use ground black pepper to keep the squirrels out. can get big jar at dollar store. and sprinkle around. really don’t think I want people to come over and say
‘did you buy a moth ball plant’?
