“If I ever hit the lotto and bought a brownstone – the whole garden level would be a bar. bars rule”
I had cousins living in a home in Rego Park, Queens.
One of those that had the Aluminum Siding.
Downstairs, in the basement, they had a complete bar/lounge set up where the kids would hang out while the adults sat at the tables upstairs drinking.
If I could re-create the atmosphere of that basement lounge somewhere in Williamsburg I think I’d make some big bucks.
You had the mandatory black light over glass shelves stocked with liquors.
A large wooden bar with glossy polyurethane finish.
Thick green carpeting throughout.
Strobe light on the ceiling corner.
Quadrophonic sound system.
Swizzle sticks which featured a female bottom with rubber skirt at the top.
Assorted mug faces on the walls including a salty sailor and an Arab man with turban.
Dart board.
Refrigerator with all types of beer.
Of course, we would sneak sips of the chocolate liqueur from Holland that came in a white glass bottle with a tulip shaped top.
Are you thinking of Hatsuhana, Dibs?
[once they spilled a whole cup of green tea on me there. 🙁
M4L, the noodle place is Menchanko. I have to say it wasn’t as I remembered it when I went last summer. Sort of disappointing..
Don’t know…haven’t been to it as a ramen place but probably is
Yeah, and they only drink Hendrick’s. It’s a real budget-buster.

True M4L – how does LPC feel about elevators?
You’re getting old really fast.
How about one of those chairs that rides up the stairs like they had in The Farmers Daughter???
