The other thing about drinking…..
……when I was in high school (1971-1975, the drinking age was still 18. Moreover, many establishments were fine with serving alcohol to underage people, as long as you behaved yourself. When I was a junior in high school, we often went to places (now gone) like Brew Burger or Beefsteak Charlies, which served unlimited (cheap) beer with the price of dinner. I went to high school in Manhattan, so there was no concern about driving home.

It means that there wasn’t a sign. You had to know it was there. Maybe semi-private isn’t the right phrase
What does “semi private” mean?
Yes,
like benson said,
adults used to drink a lot.
a whole lot!
“Of course, we would sneak sips of the chocolate liqueur from Holland that came in a white glass bottle with a tulip shaped top.”
Is there a statute of limitations on the GOTD?
No, it was a semi private place and the Japanese smoked there after the ban
Any way, i got really drunk there and fell sown the stairs

Legion, you paint a very atmospheric picture. You got to hang out while the adults did THEIR THING.
