I was not at Drexel. We did a lot of business with them in 1980-83 because I worked for a guy who ran a Convertible Fund and they bascically had the convert market cornered.
No one ever asked if I’d gone to kindergarten, never mind college. I did what I wanted to do & was really lucky that it made good money. I doubt it’d be as easy today as it was half a century ago. (Gulp!)
After a certain point in your career, the education doesn’t make that much of a difference, but it definately can help with entry in the beginning. Also there are some kinds of investment banking businesses that entry without going to a good school is hard. And in my area, many people have made a good money without the gold plated degrees. dibs, at Bear Stearns, they said they hired
Phds….”poor, hungry and driven”.
m4l, if you move to lower Manhattan, you’ll have to drive the car to park in Brooklyn if you want to work at home! $.50 for every 10 min on the meters. (But I am sure you know that!)
I feel like I make a good amount of money and also save a lot.
However, given past discussion here some would probably argue that I live close to the poverty level for NYC.

donatella, that’s DEFINITELY.
I have an MFA. It lets me teach, but is otherwise meaningless in the artworld. And yes, I’m an idiot. grin.

DIBS, you were at Drexel? Did you know Kathy Urbina and/or Tim Stoenner?
