(And scott says what I tried to say in a much more intelligent way- I should have just waiting until you posted and just agreed with it, instead of writing myself.)
“how can you be sure that you would’ve made a lot of money if you tried. Having a fancy degree is no guarantee.”
clarification aside, fwiw I do actually think I’d have made a lot (relative term) of money if I had tried; I graduated into a strong economy and everyone I knew who wanted to make money did so.
Those who wanted it more or were better at it got more than those who didn’t/weren’t as good at it, but everybody who wanted to make a lot of money made a lot of money.
scott, the opposite of your post (no degree, no trying,…) is 99.99995% probably of no financial success – the other 0.00005% is the slim chance such a person hits the lottory, marries UP big time,….

I agree that degrees are not necessary, but they certainly help reduce the potentially negatives impacts of skill and luck.
(and agree with dibs- Don’t mean to imply a degree is necessary, it’s just that the people I am familiar with are all people I knew from college.)
The degree is not necessary. Plenty of people do incredibly well without them. They have what it takes. they are motivated and work hard for it.
