it’s crazy that the average US consumer is so financially illiterate that somebody like suze orman can parlay gross oversimplifications into a hugely successful career.
“Oh come on slopey. Even a revolutionary from 1848 would find the kinds of things people complain about these day just ridiculous.”
Possibly. I’m just saying he might also find ridiculous the things we tolerate and assume to be normal without much complaint. Or at least that it isn’t as safe as you might think to put thoughts in the head of some unknown person six generations back as a rhetorical device to score debating points.
P.S. Let me know when one of your Irvington neighbors quotes the 18th Brumaire. 😉
“Yes, but you can’t get wealthy at it, unless you hit paydirt and some sugar daddy really falls in love (or lust) with you. There have been cases of that.”

I say BULLSHIT on no one being able to attain middle class status. The American consumer has a buy, buy, buy mentality, can’t understand credit card debt and is generally irresponsible.
I know many people who came here with nothing and have worked very hard at relatively meanial jobs and amassed hundreds of thousands of dollars.
really, who, when, where, how and why?
care to share their success story from start to finish?
I worry my kid wont have endured enough hardship and turns out to be a mentally weak whiner who’ll have little accountability and a ton of finger pointing.
And get ridiculed as a little fat kid because of so many brownies.

Lord Browne, who was Chairman of BP had a boyfriend he met as a canadian hustler. There are many examples of this.
JB, key is Benson’s father was an immigrant who knew how lucky they’re to be here and “go for it”. I worry my kid wont have endured enough hardship and turns out to be a mentally weak whiner who’ll have little accountability and a ton of finger pointing.

Is hustling considered a menial job? 🙂
