  1. That was extremely smart of them. i had no idea they were still in that business in those years.

    We had a client sue us at US Trust because the portfolio manager SOLD CSCO just before the bubble burst!!!!

    Actually, Pirelli came out smelling like a rose. They sold half of their FO business to Corning, and the other half to Cisco, at the height of the dot-com bubble. In both transactions, they were paid cash, not over-valued stock.

  3. For those wondering how Pirelli would get involved in fiber optics: the manufacture of tires and cables is very similiar, both involving interweaving and extrusion processes. Pirelli has long been involved in the cabling business, though they sold that division a few years ago. Ergo, cables===> fiber optics.

  4. Did Pirelli get “tired” of that fiber optics market? I bet the Japanese ran right over them. Did Pirelli’s overinflated prices put them out of business?

  5. lech, when I bought my crown heights aptmt, I wiped out the joint account and there was like only $2k left in there. wife was nowhere in sight. my bank didnt give an effe either
