so does evolution means that there will be a mutation, and some dude will have wings? ”
There would have to be a mutation in a human that gave that human a selective advantage to continue that trait.
So you’d have to have some catastrophe where like most of humanity was wiped out.
Then this guy would have a wing mutation or more likely a membrane connecting his arms and torso.
Then this guy would have to be able to pass along this trait with a selective advantage,
like all the women who hung out with this guy wouldn’t get eaten by giant nuclear slugs crawling on the ground.
So he’d scoop up all these ladies and hang out in his nest on a cliff as the rest of wingless humanity was devoured by giant slugs and he was the only winged mac daddy.
That is a thought. Maybe I am and I have been socialized to think that I am human. I could be a plant and I will be activated when my people come to take over the world.
Ok gem, fair enough. Exactly why don’t you accept it? Also bear in mind, no one ever said the theory of evolution in its present state is the final explanation, but it is based on actual evidence.
“you can’t understand how “goo” became, well, you.”
Neither can evolutionary biologists. No one “knows” this. The theories are being patched together from spotty data. If you are telling us that the current theory of evolution is the way things actually happened you are making a leap of faith that no respectable evolutionary biologist would make. Deriding people who choose not to turn scientific hypothesis into belief is why the rest of the country hates New York.
Just because the theory of evolution as we know it is so weak doesn’t mean that it DIDN’T happen that way.
It also doesn’t mean that “intelligent design” has any scientific basis.
Both are based mostly in people’s belief systems, which proves only that people are desperately interested in believing in something.
“DH, no, there is virtually no possibility of that type of mutation developing. There are reasons for this. You really should check out that lecture series if you’re interested. ”
yeah, i know. i just don’t want this conversation to get too scientific and serious (benson and bxgrl are both present) 😉
lmao legion – that sounds like an awesome movie.

“You might be an alien. (this is a test)”

I think Etson is on to something. I think one’s socio-political-economic worldview can be deciphered by their response to this great question:
“Do you consider the moose to be an evolutionary success”?
“DH, no, there is virtually no possibility of that type of mutation developing. There are reasons for this. You really should check out that lecture series if you’re interested. ”

yeah – i will def check out that lecture.
DCB- great joke!
