” I am saying Gem seems to be rejected that out of an emotional reaction to the idea that a single cell organism might have become life as we know it today.”
I’m not emotionally rejecting anything. I entrust that scientists are better at finding out how we all got here than me – however I do not accept what is currently on the books is the end all FACT (not hypothesis) to how we all got here….
DCB- there are organic chemists who are working on this, there are geologists, there are molecular biologists, paleontologists- it’s a whole range of disciplines. I did not say anything is completely proven- but I do say that rejecting it out of hand “just because” makes no sense. but I also think that calling science a belief system is erroneous. It’s a method of research, where as “belief” as you seem to be using it, is really a matter of having faith. And science doesn’t work that way.
“No one wants to open up the article I posted about a snake biting a girl with fake boobies and dying of silicone poisoning?” :o(
lol kens,
…now if that poor ol’ snake had a mutation making it resistant to silicone boobies,
we’d be in trouble because there would be a multitude of silicone-booby-biting baby vipers looking for the nearest Playboy centerfold to attack.
Bxgrl, my understanding of scientific method is based mostly on the writing of physicists since that is what I am mostly interested in.
Social scientists sometimes have a somewhat different viewpoint.
But what seems to unite all scientific method paradigms is a healthy skepticism and an open mindedness to the possibility that an alternate explanation is always possible.
You say you have evidence for evolution. I ask you to show it.
There is certainly plenty of data. Most of it has to do with the fossil record. Virtually none of it supports the idea that one species turns into another.
DeLepp;
Some moose and I will be having drinks later to patch things up, if you want to join us.
And if you thing there is any evidence that life developed from primordial soup — Well let me just say you are mistaken.
‘You say you have evidence for evolution”
Not what I said.

Is this thread some sort of punishment for just having club soda at montero’s?
Well alcohol would definately help NOW.
Good idea, thanks dona. See you all tomorrow.
When god created me he said “make this soul 1 degree off from howdy doody”.

We simply don’t know.
